The Nwanakalile Story The Nwanakalile Story
Many years ago we followed a dream down into the Sabie Valley.
We journeyed over Long Tom Pass down to the Lowveld in Mpumalanga searching for a place that was so special that it would just call out its name as we saw it.
We found ourselves in Hazyview and . . .
When we saw what was to become Nwanakalile Lodge for the first time, we both realised that our lives were about to change.
Sitting in the middle of the Sabana River and listening to the cries of the bushbabies after which the Lodge is now named, we knew it was too good not to share.
And so an exclusive and unique self-catering Lodge was born!
What else?
The bird life is awesome and then there are the cries of the bushbaby that can, on occasion, be seen in the canopy around the units.
And that is Nwanakalile: An experience to remember and to return to, time after time.
Nwanakalile (n'Wanna-ka-lee-leh) Means "the one who cries like a baby" or Bushbaby in the local lingo

The first thing that strikes you when you get to Nwanakalile is the view sweeping out over the riverine forests of the Sabana River to the hills beyond.
The second thing is the unit itself. Our units are spacious, light and cool. The reaction on walking in to one of our luxury self-catering units is "Oh wow, I could live here".
The decor is tastefully understated and each unit has its own kitchenette that is so well equipped you could produce gourmet meals should you so wish. Our living areas have cosy couches, flat screen TVs and DSTV.
The king size beds are extra length and fitted with crispy white percale cotton linen. They can be configured as twin beds for two adults sharing. Three of our units have sleeper couches which means that a family of 3 or 4 can share and there is still loads of space, so the family need not feel cramped. Each unit has its own entrance, deck and braai area.
If you do not feel like cooking, we have great eating places close by and your hosts Andrew and Auriol are on hand to make recommendations.
